WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2025 ARTIST IN RESIDENCE WITH TANGLED ART + DISABILITY

The Artist in Residence program is part of Workman Arts’ Rendezvous with Madness Festival in collaboration with Tangled Art + Disability. By providing time, resources, and both an artist fee and a material fee, we believe this can support the development of a body of work to become exhibition ready for a solo show at the Tangled Art + Disability gallery vitrine space in Spring 2026. We offer this opportunity to a Workman Arts member who has not recently presented or has minimally exhibited their artwork.

This year will be dedicated to artists working with and/or integrating sound art in their practice. In addition to the vitrines space, the selected artist will have the opportunity to use the Library shared space at Tangled Art + Disability as well to either display works or hold public program events.

Artist Residency will officially begin in early October 2025 and run until Spring 2026. Specific Dates and Timelines for Artistic Production are to be determined in collaboration with the Artist. The selected Artist will be notified by late September 2025.

Workman Arts will support the Artist for the production period of this residency and provide:

– Administrative support for production of artwork
– Accessibility support for production of artwork
– Support sourcing and contracting fabricators

Tangled Art + Disability will provide:

– Exhibition Venue: Tangled Vitrines (view floorplan) + Library shared space
– Administrative support for display of artwork
– Accessibility support for display of artwork
– Support contracting transportation and installation of artwork

Selected artist will be paid an Artist Fee of $1000.00 CAD and a Materials Fee of $1000.00 CAD. The Materials fee is to be used for costs associated with the production of artwork. All costs associated with accessibility, transportation, installation/removal, and display of artwork will be covered by Workman Arts and Tangled.

  • Be dedicated to an ongoing arts practice
  • Did not have solo exhibitions in the past ten years
  • Be related to both parties’ institutional mandate
