Norman and Marsha Paul Family Trust

The Norman & Marsha Paul Family Trust made a significant investment in Workman Arts member artists.

The Norman & Marsha Paul Family Trust has made a commitment to provide $60,000 in funding over the next three years (2018-2020) to support member artists with costs associated with Workman Arts exhibitions and presentations.

The Paul Family Trust (PFT) assists Workman Arts member artists with production costs associated with Workman Arts exhibitions. To be eligible for this fund, you must have confirmation that your work has been accepted into one of our exhibitions (such as Being Scene or Rendezvous with Madness) and be a current active member.

Eligible expenses:

  • materials and expenses related to the fabrication of artwork (such as photo printing)
  • presentation costs, including framing, display structures, mounting and installation hardware and supplies and construction of structural elements specific to an installation.
  • audio-visual presentation equipment.
  • Crating and transportation.

There is no separate application process. Upon confirmation of acceptance into the exhibition, participants will have the opportunity to request funds through a simple form that will be sent at that time from the organizers or curators of the event.

Q: Can I ask for money to cover the cost of materials for the creation of art that I intend to submit to a Workman Arts exhibition?

A: No. Unfortunately, we cannot fund materials costs for projects you intend to submit. Proposed work is eligible for submission for juried/curatorial consideration, however not eligible for the PFT production assistance funding until selected & confirmed for exhibition.

Q: What are my options if I need financial assistance with material costs for the creation phase?

A: We encourage you to look at the grants available from the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. If you would like assistance please join our Grant Writing Group that is offered as part of our Training and Professional Development program.

Q: What kind of proof will you need for expenses in the application?

A: Quotations required for equipment rental. Receipts for all purchases – however if receipts are not available, a detailed list of expenses will be accepted.

Q:Is there a minimum or maximum amount I can request?

A: No, there are no fund minimums or maximums, however, we would like to be able to help as many artists as possible so large requests may not be fully funded.

Q: Which confirmed Workman Arts exhibitions are eligible?

A: Being Scene, Rendezvous with Madness Festival and other special presentations.

Q: Do I need to provide a report when the event is over?

A: There is no report, but you do need to submit receipts for all purchases.
