Q: What is the cost of membership?
A: Membership is free to all eligible artists.
Q: Do I have to have received services from CAMH to be eligible?
A: No. You are eligible for membership if you have received services from ANY mental health or addictions program.
Q: Are there fees to attend courses?
A: No. Courses are free to all member artists. Artists are expected to supply materials unless otherwise specified.
Q: Do I need a referral from a doctor to prove my eligibility?
A: No.
Q: Is there a wait-list?
A: Yes.When Workman Arts programs are at their full capacity, we have to wait until space opens up to be able to allow new members to take part. We will do our best to estimate how long this might be, and may offer an associate membership in times when full training memberships are not available. Q: Can Workman Arts give me a solo exhibition or get me work as an artist?
A: Workman Arts produces a series of public events such as Being Scene and Rendezvous with Madness yearly as well as a range of shows and events with partner organizations. Each event will have a call for artists in the Opportunities section and will be juried or curated based on the program criteria. We also offer professional development courses to assist artists with applying for shows and supporting their development as independent artists.
Q: What is the difference between a Training Membership and an Associate Membership?
A: Training Members have access to all elements of memberships. Associate members have access to all elements except registering for Training courses.
Q: Do I have to make work in a certain artistic medium to be a member?
A: No. Workman Arts is a multidisciplinary arts organization.
Q: Do I have to have attended art school to be a member?
A: No. We value and respect self-taught artists as well as artists who have attended post-secondary, community art classes or have worked with mentors.
