Deadline for applications: July 30, 11:59 PM

One of the pillars that has been identified in supporting the growth and sustainability of an artist’s career is having the opportunity to receive guidance from peers and leaders within communities. Workman Arts recognizes the importance of these connections and mentorship opportunities that have played a key role within artistic career development and advancement. We have committed ourselves to creating greater professional development opportunities and opportunities for wider community connection.

The Workman Arts: Mentors In Residence Program will host eight (8) mentors in residence (four (4) chosen from Workman Arts members and four (4) from external applications) who will provide 1-on-1 mentorship and guidance to Workman Arts members with project development, grants/fundraising advice, and career development. We are currently accepting application for the role of mentors in any artistic discipline. This opportunity is open to both Workman Arts members and non-members. We’re looking for artists who have an established practice in their chosen discipline(s). While previous mentorship experience is not required, we are looking for an understanding of what makes a good mentor/mentee relationship and a clear idea of how you will engage with potential mentees. We recognize all forms of knowledge acquisition and invite mentors from all backgrounds to apply, including those who are self-taught. We prioritize applications from artists with mental health and addictions lived experience. This is a paid opportunity; mentors will receive $50/hour for up to 15 hours each.

The program will run from the Fall of 2021 and into the Spring of 2022 and will be conducted online via Zoom or by phone.

Workman Arts is a multidisciplinary arts organization that promotes a greater understanding of mental health and addiction issues through creation and presentation. We welcome and encourage applications from our BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and people with various abilities.
