Workman Arts Training Program supported by TD Bank
The Workman Arts Training Program offers high calibre training and professional development free-of-charge to artists living with mental health and addiction issues. Classes are delivered by instructors with lived experience, creating an important connection between artists and instructors. The program also reduces social isolation by growing the quality and quantity of connections participants have in their community.
TD has made a commitment to fund the program at a value of $60,000 in 2018, which will have a significant impact on the program and the artists who receive training through it. The funding will be used to increase the accessibility of the training program by introducing additional supports to artist participants in the form of transportation assistance and a food program, addressing major barriers to participation as identified in Workman Arts surveys. Increasing accessibility by adding food and transportation programs will enable more artists living with mental health and addiction experiences to fully participate in our training programs.
Workman Arts is extremely grateful for the support of TD and enthusiastic about the additional supports for artists that will be offered thanks to this generous donation.
