This part-interactive workshop provides participants with foundational knowledge and practices when entering formal legal agreements and negotiations involving their artworks and services as artists. Led by Laura Wilson-Lewis, a legal advisor with Artists’ Legal Advice Services (ALAS), participants will gain legal insight and knowledge into best practices for considerations and issues pertaining to copyright, intellectual property and agreements related to fees and payments.

Laura Wilson-Lewis is an entertainment lawyer and an Associate at Taylor Oballa Murray Leyland LLP. She advises on, drafts and negotiates various agreements to assist creatives in protecting their business interests and intellectual property. In her practice, Laura assists clients in the music, television and film industries. Prior to joining the firm, Laura operated her own law firm, where she represented artists, artist managers, producers and other creatives within the music industry. Laura was called to the Ontario bar in 2016.
