SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY OPEN TO WORKMAN ARTS MEMBERS & ARTISTS WHO HAVE ACCESSED CAMH SERVICES

Artworks in all visual arts media are eligible for submission, such as painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, textile, collage, media-based art, etc.  Artwork content of all kinds is eligible. Priority is given to explorations of diverse, contemporary lived experiences, including work by self-taught artists & collaborative work

This year the thematic feature wall collection returns and we welcome submissions of portraits of all kinds, including masks.

All artists who are accepted for exhibition will receive an artist fee.

FOR DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS:

Please submit the following by e-transfer (ie; Dropbox, Google Drive etc..), with BEING SCENE 2019 in message subject line or text box:

• Short Biography & Artists Statement (aprx 100-120 words).
• Maximum of 10 jpg image files, at least 1000 pixels across with
• Image descriptions in file names: Image number, Artists Surname, Title, Year, Media Dimensions (HxW), Edition (if applicable)
• Corresponding numbered description price list.
• Indicate for sale or not for sale (NFS)
• All text documents to be submitted in MS Word or Adobe PDF.
• All files (text & images) to be batched & attached as a .zip folder
•Include contact info & web links (if applicable) on all documents & text messages.

FOR DROP-OFF SUBMISSIONS:

Drop off artworks at Workman Arts by November 1, 2018. Forms may be filled out in-person. Please come prepared with:

• Short Biography & Artists Statement (aprx 100-120 words).
• Maximum of 2 artworks, plus optional 3rd artwork of portrait or mask for theme wall, framed or display-ready.
• Image descriptions: Title, Year, Media Dimensions (HxW), Edition (if applicable), Prices.
• Indicate for sale or not for sale (NFS)
• All artworks & documents to be labelled with artists name & contact info.

BY MAKING A SUBMISSION FOR “BEING SCENE 2019, ARTISTS AGREE, IF SELECTED FOR EXHIBITION, TO DELIVER ARTWORKS TO WORKMAN ARTS NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 14th, 2018 AND PICK-UP ARTWORKS NO LATER THAN APRIL 30th, 2019. ARTISTS GRANT WORKMAN ARTS PERMISSION TO PRINT, POST ONLINE & DISTRIBUTE: ARTISTS NAME, SUBMITTED IMAGES & TEXTS PROVIDED, FOR PURPOSE OF PROMOTING THE ARTIST, THEIR ARTWORKS & THE BEING SCENE EXHIBITION TO THE PUBLIC.

Incomplete submissions may not be considered.

RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED & EMAIL CONFIRMATIONS SENT THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 26th

ALL ARTISTS WHO HAVE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF ARTWORK SELECTION FOR EXHIBITION IN BEING SCENE 2019 ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE PAID AN ARTIST FEE, AS WELL AS TO MAKE A REQUEST FOR RETROACTIVE PRODUCTION ASSISTANCE FROM THE NORMAN & MARSHA PAUL FAMILY TRUST SUPPORT FOR EXHIBITION & PRESENTATION, & THE OAC EXHIBITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
